This Pukka Teabag advent calendar is for me both a symbol of waiting and a symbol of the surprise and delight of fulfilment.
There is a simple predictability in the progress of the days within advent towards Christmas. '19 more sleeps': that is an easy sort of waiting, right?
More interesting for me today is that, whilst I don't expect to receive this gift, in fact my friend Debs has brought one every year for the past I don't know how many years; it warms my heart (as well as my mouth and throat and stomach) to be loved like this, over and over again. The arc of this mark of friendship spans a whole year, and like a slow pendulum it insists on returning, quiet and true. That sort of waiting I like very much, very much indeed.
