What would it look like if I were really being me?
No more they’ll think I look silly
or I have to prove myself before the others
But it would be all delight and yes and why not and let’s do it!
What would it look like if I were really being me?
No more last time it failed
or I don’t think I will ever manage that
But it would be all possible and courage and take that step and today is the day!
What would it look like if I were really being me?
No more it’s too embarrassing to try
or there is too much shame around that issue
No more it’s easier to keep to the narrow field that I recognise
or I had better do it like everyone else.
No more I am afraid I’ll never find my place in the world
No more secretly I wonder if I am an undiscovered genius
No more people will never understand me
No more I am too weird too fit in.
But it would be all welcome home and all that is mine is yours and let’s sit and eat.
